Professional Dance Teaching Certifications, Qualifications & Memberships
Families that are new to dance may not understand the importance of teacher training for quality dance classes that are safe and effective.
Here are some descriptions of the training and certifications that our teachers hold.
Royal Academy of Dance Ballet

Heather Mackie, ARAD
RAD RTS - RAD Registered Teaching Status
Teachers registered with the Royal Academy of Dance generally have a 2-year, supervised training course including in-person supervision, practical evaluations, course work and mentoring. This course is called Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies.
Professional development is required each year.
Examiner
An Examiner in the RAD is a position wherein the individual travels to other RAD studios and evaluates Class Award and Exam dancers. Extensive training beyond the RAD RTS requirements is needed to attain this position.
ARAD - Associate RAD Member
This is a membership that may be held by dancers that have achieved the highest level of technical training, the Advanced 2 Ballet vocational exam, successfully!
ADAPT Jazz & Tap

ADAPT TTS
The ADAPT Teacher Training School is a two year intensive study and training in the ADAPT syllabus and teaching skills. Both written and practical assessment are a part of this program.

Licentiate
To attain a Licentiate level membership, teachers must complete a practical assessment up to advanced levels in their particular discipline.
Examiner
An examiner requires additional training and travels to other studios to assess students that are doing exams.
